And the Kidney Stone Journey continues......

So, I dont think this madness will ever end. We went back to Dr. Khim today to get the progress on the Lithotripsy from last week and follow up from Friday's ER visit. Good news and Bad news!!!

GOOD NEWS: He had such severe pain on Friday in his left side and he could not even stand so we went to the ER. According to the xray taken today, he PASSED the stone that was in his LEFT kidney. So that one is now gone and we no longer have to worry about it.

BAD NEWS: The one that was in his right Ureter which is the one they done the Lithotripsy on is still there. It is still lodged in the exact same spot that it has been in for 4 weeks now. The Lithotripsy did help somewhat due to it knocking fragments off the stone and making it smaller however even though it is smaller it is still not moving.

We now go in on Friday to have the Ureteroscopy done where they actually go in with the basket to remove it. Depending on the size, they still may have to use lasar and bust it up some before grabbing it. He will also have a stent placed after the procedure for a few days.

We were supposed to go to Gatlinburg on Saturday however I think that may be a no go. Trent is very persistant on still going due to this being the 2nd Gatlinburg trip it may cancel but I just done think it would be very wise to go so far right after the procedure.

Anyways, I reckon that is going on these days but thought I would update everyone.

When will all this insanity / maddness ever end?

So figured I would give a quick update since Trent's Lithotripsy. He had 1 stone in left kidney, 1 stone in the right kidney, and 1 in the right uretur. They do not cause any problems while in the kidney therefore during the Lithotripsy they targeted only the right ureter stone as hard as they could. Today Trent woke up with SEVERE PAIN in his LEFT SIDE and BLOOD in his URINE. 2 things bad about this. 1) Pain on left side and not right 2) doctor said should see blood in urine for 24 hours after procedure than it should pretty much stop and if it starts back to where you can actually see it, to call him immediately. We called Dr. Khim office the Urologist and he was not in today due to him being in surgeries all day therefore they told us to go to the ER. We kinda feel like the ER was a lost cause however we did find out there is high amounts of blood in the urine and they done a xray and some blood work to check for infectoin and also gave him pain meds and fluids via IV. Anyways, the ER doctor could not tell much by the xray however said their was definately blood in the urine with no kidney infections and the Urologist would be able to take a better look at the xray on Wednesday when he follows up with Trent then. Said Dr. Khim the urologist would be able to see it better and more clear than he would since the Urologist is used to looking at stones on an xray. We are thinking the pain on the left side is due to the stone in the LEFT KIDNEY coming loose and he is actually trying to pass yet ANOTHER STONE. I just feel so bad for him but really there is not much we can do until following up with Dr. Khim on Wednesday. We are just wondering when everything is gonna slow down and he is gonna start feeling better. Trent did get approved off of work as long as noone on his shift gets sick so we are supposed to be leaving for Gatlinburg next Saturday. Hopefully we can get him fully recovered and actully get to go. We need to go the land of FAR FAR AWAY for a while.

Lithotripsy

Just a little update on Trent procedure from Monday. Before the procedure started the doctor took a look at the stone and said that it was still in the exact same spot as it was from the first week therefore it has not budged in 3 weeks and still just lodged in there. He also said before the procedure that it appeared to be 5mm to 6mm when before they were saying 4mm to 5mm. Dr. said everything went well during the procedure and he hit it right on the stone as hard as he could but unfortunately he could not tell any difference from before he started to after. He said that was not unusual however with Trent's stuck where it was he was keeping his fingers crossed and hoping everything went well but unsure. We will go back on Wednesday to follow up and get another xray and reevaluate it to see if it done it's job. He had the procedure on Monday and Tuesday morning at about 1am he started noticing very small pieces as small as sand in his strainer. There has only been about 10 very very small pieces and he has not had anything since about 2pm on Tuesday but we are hoping that is a good sign that it worked. We are just waiting around for the bigger pieces to come on out so we will know. Guess we will see on Wednesday.

Anywho, as long as things go the way they are expected, we will be heading to Gatlinburg next weekend. Hopefully we will get good news to where we can actually go this time.

Other than Trent, not much new is going on . We haven't had time for anything different.

Just wanted to post a few pictures of my work of art (cross stitching) in progress. It is taking a while however it isn't taking as long as what I thought it would only being my second one. I had done one several years ago and one night I had a patient that was cross stitching and made me want to do it again. I looked and looked and could not find one for me however found one that matches my mom kitchen perfect.
This was my first cross stitching ever. I made it for Trent right after he got out of the academy.
This is a picture of what my current project should look like when finished.
And this is my progress on it. This was the last picture I took of it. I have gotten a little more than this done but not much at all.

Hope everyone else is doing fantastic.

More news on Kidney Stones!

Today we went back to the Urologist Dr. Khim and they took another x-ray and the stone has not even budged 1 inch since last week. With the spot that the stone is lodged at, the doctor is first going to try Shockwave Lithotripsy which means he will be totally knocked out with full General Anesthesia. Unfortunately the Lithotripsy is only approx 80% to 85% effective. Dr. Khim was shocked that it had not moved at all and said that it was lodged in a very awkward spot. Usually if they get lodged, it is right about the blood vessels and veins or right at the bladder however Trent's is lodged near the top of the ureter and if they do the original plan of the Ureteroscopy, it is liable to push the stone back up into the kidney which we do not want nor need to happen and it will be more difficult since it is so high up. If the Lithotripsy fails since it is only 80% - 85% effective, they will then have to do the Ureteroscopy and take those chances. Anyways, his Lithotripsy is scheduled for Monday and we done his Pre surgery stuff today. He will have to be out of work for a few days afterwards due to being sore from the shock waves and from the little pieces of the busted up stones actually passing. I am sure everything will be fine but keep him in your prayers that this actually works and we don't have to continue with further treatment.

Sickness

As the most of you know, Trent has been very sick this week. On Saturday and Sunday, he had noticed a slight decrease in appetite but not feeling sick. On Monday morning around 5:45 he told me he felt like his stomach was stuffed as if he had just finished eating a big meal however it had been about 9 hours since he had ate. We laid down in the bed at 6 and immediately when we laid down, he jumped up and ran to the bathroom. From that point on he had severe diarrhea with nausea and vomiting. Around 8:30 he came to me and told me he had to go to the doctor he was too sick to sit around and wait it out. To make a long story short, we called around to several doctors that we have heard are great due to not liking his family doctor. We luckily got him into Dr. Dobias which is very familiar with Trent's family history of cancer and has actually diagnosed his Uncle and cousin with Renal Cell Carcinoma and his Aunt with Colon Cancer. We were very shocked that we got in within an hour of calling due to the fact that Trent was a new patient. Once we saw him, he said he was not totally ruling out food poisoning however he thought it was just a very bad stomach virus that if he was not better by Wednesday to come back in. Needless to say, we returned to him on Wednesday morning. He was still thinking it was a extremely severe stomach virus and at that point he said he had not seen not 1 person come in with a virus that was as severe as Trent's however with all the symptoms, he than decided to run some blood work, stool culture, and do an ultrasound of his stomach. The ultra sound was gonna be scheduled for the next day however was never done due to having to go to another doctor recommended by Dobias. We then left the office and turned in his prescription and was getting some more soup for his bland diet. While in Kroger's he was literally doubled up over the cart and he went to sit in the car while I paid. When we left Kroger, we immediately went back to Dr. Dobias office and they took us straight back. Dr. did not realize how much pain Trent was actually in and at this point Trent said I WOULD RATHER HAVE KIDNEY STONES AGAIN THAN TO HAVE THIS PAIN. IT IS A CLOSE TOSS UP. Dr. Dobias then was going to admit him and finally came to the decision to send him to a GI doctor. We left the office and went straight to the GI doctor, Dr. Choksi. Dr. Choksi of course ended up doing a rectal exam and there was some blood in his stool therefore he went ahead and scheduled him immediately for a Colonoscopy for today. Trent was miserable while drinking the laxative however he made it. lol. He had the test this morning and everything came back perfectly normal and healthy with his colon however Dr. Choski said that he does also have blood in his urine and HE HAS A KIDNEY STONE. I guess Trent has learned his lesson and he will never wish something on himself again. lol. Trent will now meet with Dr. Kihm a Urologist on Monday morning. As of right now, Trent is not hurting. We are unsure if he has passed the stone or if it is just sitting still for now and not moving. We are hoping and praying he has passed it though.

We absolutely love the new doctors Trent has been with this week and I have actually bought Thank you cards to send them because of how awesome and amazing them and there staff has been for us. I am extremely cautious when it comes to doctors but the both of these doctors are extremely thorough and does not act rushed. They will give you there total and undivided attention. I am sure since Dr Choksi recommended him, he will be great but I hope we love Dr. Kihm (Urologist) as much as we have loved the other two.

We will keep everyone updated with everything as we find out more. Hopefully everything will go fine on Monday.

Also another great thing. Trent finished his last dip on Friday and has not touched any since Saturday. He has been too sick to think of it but he said it has not even crossed his mind. Please everyone keep him in your prayers that he can stay away from such a bad habit. He is doing great for now.

Thank you so much for all of your Prayers. They were much needed and much answered in many ways.

Weekend fun and more

This weekend me and Trent was supposed to go to Manchester and it was pouring rain on Saturday morning so we had just decided to stay home. Since we didnt go, Mom, Amber, Colton, and Kate all came to see us. It was such a great weekend with everyone here and we done so much fun stuff with little Colty while they were here. First off we ate some Yummy chili my wonderful hubby cooked for us while I slept since I had just gotten off work. Colty played the playstation for a while and then they fun began. Trent rode the 4 wheeler with Colton, took him for a ride in the police car, and then we had a fire in our outdoor firepit and roasted marshmellows and hotdogs. Colton also wanted to tell ghost stories while sitting by the fire. He is such a little character. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Colton was so excited to get to ride in the police car. He usually doesnt seem to like his pictures taken but he sure seemed to pose for me this weekend.

First thing he done when he jumped in the car was grabbed the hat.

Trent had just turned on the blue lights and the sirens.

He was so amused by everything. He found the radar and just thought it was so neat that you could tell when people were speeding.

Amber will probably die when she sees that I posted this but when Trent and Colton got back from their neighborhood ride he jumped out of the car arrested Amber and threw her in the back seat.

They also went on a 4 wheeler ride around the yard. Sorry not so good pictures. I have to get a new camera taht will take good night time pictures. Anyways. Colty was throwing up the peace sign here.

I used a different camera mode and got this picture. I just love it for some reason. They were done riding so Trent took the helmet off of Colton and it looks like he thought Trent was crazy for wearing the helmet like this.

We roasted marshmellows and hot dogs in our outdoor firepit and Colton waas playing with the cover like it was a shield. That is why he is so filthy and black here.

Once Trent and Colton got back from riding in the cop car, Trent let Colton play on the PA system. These videos are cute.

I had been tyring to post videos and it wouldnt let me but since it is now here is one of Bullet. Like I said in the last post, he does just about anything. He has learned to lay on the floor and let us put a treat on his paw and leave it till we say get it. He is such a good boy. Now if we could just teach him not to jump it would be perfect.

Sorry the video is a little blurry and dark, it is from a cell phone.

Things in the Haddock world are still great. Just working hard and staying very busy. As far as my job update as I posted in the last blog, looks like everything is great. Ended up being that a new job did not have to get approved it just had to get approved that I am charge person on nights which means that I will get charge pay which = a good raise. At some point this week they will be coming up with what they want to call the position. The new title and new pay should start atleast by next week however we are thinking it could start as soon as tomorrow night.

I reckon that is all for now. Just thought I would give quick update on last post and some pictures from this weekend.

Busy, Busy

Wow it has been forever since we have posted a new blog. We have both been super busy. Seems like things will never slow down.

Trent is doing great. Nothing new with him. Just the same ol' same ol' crazy po po atmosphere. Lol.

Me on the other hand, Great I am but extremely busy it seems. I have started my new job in Columbia and everything is going good there and I am also still at Baptist PRN. We have been up and going in Columbia for 3 weeks now. As a few people may alread know, I am looking at getting a new position in about 2 weeks. It is not a position that the hospital has so it is having to be approved to be created therefore that is why it will take a couple weeks but I will basically be the night time supervisor. I will be watching over both shifts of the week to make sure everything is running smoothly and checking all other techs off making sure everything is getting done and done right. I have said that this nice, quiet, shy girl is gonna have to learn to not be so quiet and shy. This will be a challenge to me since I am the type that just avoids confrontation but it will be my job so I am up for whatever changes it calls for. Please keep me and all these changes in your prayers that everything works out the way that we are all hoping it will. Like I said though it will probably be about 2 weeks and we will then know that everything will be good to go however from the sounds of things, the position will be approved.

We really have not been up to anything new. Just basically chilling as much as possible on our days off together.

Here are just a few pictures since it has been a while.
Bullet is such a little cuddler. He is so rotten.
He does so good with his commands. He was shaking daddys hand. He sits, stays, shakes, and high 5.

Heather brough Alli up to Baptist so everyone could see her, luckily it was one of the nights I was PRN so I got to see her. She fell asleep on me laying like a frog. She is just so precious.

Me and Trent are still trying so hopefully before long we will have us a little one.

Anywho, I reckon that is all for now. Maybe next time I wont wait so long to post.
