Kid in a Candy Store

Today, me and Trent went to Greene's Military and Police store in Nashville to get his vest. Now of course when a cop walks in, they can not just look at one thing. Trent was like a kid in a candy store gone crazy. He had been wanting a certain gun holster for quiet a while now and I never knew what it was to go get it and he never took the time to go get it nor wanted to spend the money on it. While we were there, I convinced him to just take a look at it. His face instantly lit up once he got to playing with it. He was not going to get it due to the money but I could not let him walk out of the store with out it due to him being so excited about it. I had told him now that I know what it is if he did not just get it, he would have a surprise one day because I would get it myself. It is a level 3 holster which gives him a quicker draw yet it is tougher to get out since it is level 3 and he loves it. Even if one of the things is not snapped, it is still a level 2 to where no criminal can get it out. We finally got him fitted for his new vest and it the exact one that he wanted plus they had it in stock. Everything worked out perfect and we got it today. While we were there, he had called to make sure he was getting the correct level of vest. The guy he had called is the same one that keeps saying the department has no money to just wait till July. He didn't understand why Trent had went to get one himself but said to make sure to save the receipt and we would get reimbursed. By the time he was getting off the phone with him, another officer called Trent and had actually called the Chief and chief had also told us their was no money in budget but to make sure to keep the receipt so that we could get reimbursed. It will be really good if we actually do get reimbursed because it about killed Trent to spend all that money. Trent all day just had a blank look on his face and was really quiet because he could not see spending that money but knew that it was something that he not only needed but had to have. I am so relieved that he actually has one that he likes and will wear now.

To a different story, lately Bullet has decided when he goes out, sometimes he will run off and sometimes he will come right back to us. As Trent explains it, Bullet decided to take a nature hike the other night. We were getting ready to leave and go see Leah and we took Bullet out to use the bathroom before leaving. He decided that he would just run off. Normally when he runs, he goes next door to his brothers but this time, he decided to run to the tree line. He then proceeded to run through the tree line, find a break in the fence, run past the tree line into this big field to the side of our property. Trent had to jump the fence and run around the HUGE field next to us to get him. That was not as easy as it sounds. Trent was out there chasing him and trying to get him back for 35 minutes. We had been getting tired of him randomly running off but this definitely done us in. We had then decided that we were putting up a fence. To make it a quick explanation, I will just say we have a huge back yard and it would be way way too expensive to fence in the whole thing and do not know how we would just fence in about 1/4 to 1/2 an acre without chopping up the yard with the fence and it looking ridiculous. I guess if it come down to it, we could do it in the very back possible corner? Who knows. We then decided we would try an underground fence. We actually found one that is wireless and you don't have to dig to put it underground but works the same way. We went to Pet smart and actually come to the conclusion we would just try to anchor something into the ground and get a really long chain and let him use the bathroom on that and also give him freedom to still run some. By doing this we will save a lot of money even a lot more than actually doing the wireless fence. The wireless is $300 and a fence would only be god knows how much to where we paid like $40 for the chain and anchor. I HATE the fact of chaining him like that but it seems that it will work OK. We will give it a trial and then if that does not work, we will get the wireless fence. We will probably eventually do the wireless fence anyways so we don't have to chain him but this will save some money for now since we spent so much already today with Trent police stuff. Any who, I hammered and anchored the thing down in the ground, gave it a shot and Bullet done good on it. He used the bathroom, chased me, ran around and seemed good until, he jerked so hard, he snapped the collar he was wearing and totally broke it. We then put another collar on him and he has been out several times on it and done well. He does not seem to mind it. However, I am sure he loves the fact of just being able to run instead of us beating the fool out of him for actually running away. He tried to dodge Trent and run from him earlier and realized he couldn't. As bad as I hate chaining him, I must say it is really nice to be able to take him out and not worry about him running away on me at 2am when it is pitch black and I am chasing him over the yard (not to mention others yards too). It also makes me feel better to know he is not chained outside all the time. He is still and always will be an inside dog but he will only be on it when he is using the bathroom and maybe to run and play a little.

Any who, enough of a blog for the day. It is time for us to hit the bed.

Our neighbor has one of the underground invisible fence systems...it works..sometimes. They have a big dog like bullet but he can run through the fence and has many times. We've had to put the dog back in the "invisible" fence a couple times. If bullet gets to running, he can run right through the fence and not feel the electronic shock enough to stop him.
